Hi y’all, my name is Ryann Bowser (she/they). I am the sole owner of Rare Breed Athletics, a space that I built with passion, intention, and a vision for something different.
Sports and fitness have always been a huge part of my life. I grew up immersed in athletics and went on to play college basketball at Texas Tech University, following two years at the community college level. After my playing career ended, I realized my love for coaching and helping others reach their full potential. That love led me to coach college basketball for two years. While I enjoyed it, I eventually felt called to try something new.
But something was missing. I missed coaching, missed guiding people, and missed that sense of connection and growth that comes from helping others thrive. That’s when I found my way back into fitness. I started managing a CrossFit gym for about two and a half years, and during that time, I truly honed my skills and realized what I wanted out of my life. I wanted my own space. A space that reflected not just my values but also my identity. A space where others like me—and those who felt they didn’t fit in anywhere else—could find a home.
And so, Rare Breed Athletics was born.
Rare Breed is more than a gym. It’s a fitness space where I can feel comfortable and safe. It’s a space where YOU can feel comfortable and safe. It’s a space for EVERYBODY. A judgment-free zone where all bodies, all levels, all identities, and all abilities are celebrated. At Rare Breed, we don’t just work out—we build community. We support one another, we lift each other up, and we grow stronger together.
The Rare Breed embodies the idea that you don’t need to compromise who you are to succeed. You don’t need to conform to fit someone else’s idea of success. Here, being a misfit, a beginner, or simply yourself is not just accepted—it’s celebrated. The Rare Breed are the people whose greatest virtues defy conventional wisdom. Those who embrace their individuality and build lives and careers that are aligned with their values.
Rare Breed matters because it encourages people to love and accept themselves fully. It’s about unlocking untapped potential and realizing the strength that’s already inside of you. Together, we are building something extraordinary—a place where everyone can feel empowered, confident, and STRONG.
This is Rare Breed. This is my story. And I hope you’ll join me in writing yours, too.
After COVID, I realized something had to change. I had spent the previous two years living a pretty sedentary lifestyle, and I didn’t feel like myself anymore. I wasn’t happy with the way I looked or the way I felt, and I was tired of buying gym memberships that I never actually used.
What I was really missing was community and accountability — people and a place that would help me show up consistently.
That’s when I decided to try a group fitness gym. Almost immediately, I fell in love with the challenging workouts and the supportive community around me. For the first time, I was actually using my membership, showing up regularly, and seeing real results.
That experience changed everything. I was hooked — not just on the workouts, but on the feeling of becoming stronger, more confident, and part of something bigger than myself.
My purpose as a coach is to empower people to do hard things, challenge themselves, and become the strongest version of who they are. I believe fitness should build confidence, resilience, and pride in what your body is capable of.
I want every person who walks into my gym or trains with me to feel seen, supported, and included. It’s important to me that training is not only effective, but also something people genuinely enjoy and look forward to.
I meet my clients exactly where they are in their journey, and from there we work together to push past limits, build strength, and create the happiest and healthiest versions of themselves.
